It's one kind of method for fishing. Which uses flies that are cast with a special fishing rod and line.

Fly fishing is different than the types of fishing that most people are familiar with because it is the line that one casts, and the mechanics of casting rely on the line having actual weight, rather than the lure or bait having the weight. While a fly rod and fly line can be used to deliver conventional lures or bait, the primary advantage is in being able to cast virtually weightless "flies" that imitate or suggest more delicate food sources such as tiny aquatic insect larvae. Many flies do have more weight and size, however, depending the situation and on the species one is fishing for.
