Would professional sports in the U.S. benefit from a relegation/promotion system?
Professional soccer (football) throughout the world relies on a system of relegation and promotion to determine the makeup of each league. In most cases, the bottom three teams drop to a lower level and the top three move up. How much more interesting would games between struggling NFL or NBA teams at the end of the season be if they were fighting for survival rather than simply angling for the best draft pick for the next season?
