Impossible to answer. You can camp on the Las Vegas strip at a casino, you can camp on the grounds of Disneyworld. You can also camp at a wide spot in the road, 300 miles from nowhere and with absolutely no amenities.
It's all a matter of what you want. Personally, I usually find that wide spot in the road - Campgrounds are better than motels, but little beats solitude in the forest. The area I live in has lots of little, 100 yard, spurs off of semi-main roads that just dead end at a river or lake. Or just dead end at a nowhere place. They're great for camping.
You can also backpack miles into wilderness areas if that's your forte'.
