Mosquitos, how do YOU make them pay?

We live in Jersey and the mosquito population seems to love our sandy soil and are driving me NUTS. How do you combat this enemy on home turf?

I light candles, wear bug spray or lotion, and keep the screens closed as best as possible.  I try not to kill things, even bugs tongue  I might swat one if it bites me.

Here are a couple of suggestions from Bruce Fife's book, Coconut Cures.

Insect repellent: Coconut oil and peppermint oil. Combine 1 part peppermint oil with 5 parts coconut oil and rub over exposed skin.

Insect bites and stings: Apply warm coconut oil 2 to 3 times a day. Relieves stinging, itching, and inflammation.

I try not to go outside at night unless I am covered up. There are also anti-bug body sprays and even a disk that you can clip on to repel them. I also do not go anywhere near stagnant water or other breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
