How many gold medals will the USA win in the 2012 Olympics?

The closest guess wins best answer. To avoid a tie, tell me which country will win the most gold medals and if that still doesn't do it, then the one who responded correctly first will be awarded.

I reckon Team USA will win 57 gold medals with China taking 1st spot on the board!

USA will win the second place altogether with (about 35-40, so let's say) 38 gold medals.
The first place on the board will be awarded for China, as usual.

I don't think so. U.S. is so much stronger in the second half of the Olympics. We will win in both total and gold metal counts I believe

I think USA will win only 45 Gold medals in Olympics 2012.As most of the stars of USA are not doing well

I suppose this doesn't have to do with the medals directly, but the USA almost lost to Lithuania in Basketball. It's a bit disturbing, and I hope the team pulls it together to take a medal again.

On another note, isn't China doing very well in terms of medals? They are first or something o.O  USA what happened D:?

Not enough to fully pay back China, is what I imagine.
