    Do you think Colin Kaepernick or Alex Smith should start as quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers?

    Alex Smith suffered a concussion and Kapernick started for him. Now that he is ok, do you think he should start again for the 49ers?

    Coaches have to make tough calls sometimes. Alex Smith has said and done all the right things, but he's a game manager with limited upside. He can make the checkdown passes and not turn the ball over, but don't get down 10 points, because he can't put you on his back and drag you to a win. Kaepernick can do more with his arm, even making accurate deep throws, and has the added threat of his running ability. No team is scared of Smith, but everyone has to be worried about planning for Kaepernick. He's the better player, period, and he inspires his teammates more, firing them up and making them think they can win any game, even if they get down by two touchdowns. It's sad for an ostensibly good person to lose his job like this, but Harbaugh has made the right decision by starting the better player.
