Eyelash Transplants And Applying False Eyelashes – The Advantages And Disadvantages

Updated on January 23, 2010

It has recently become very fashionable to accentuate the features of the face using eyelashes and the mascara brush. Many celebrities can be seen sporting fantastic sets of lashes that are either fake or have been enhanced by an eyelash transplant.

If you are hoping to look like the next member of Girls Aloud or want to stand out in a crowd like the beautiful Beyonce, here are a few advantages and disadvantages of both types of procedures.

Eyelash Transplants – The Advantages

The end result is a permanent solution. Your eyelashes will look full and vibrant whatever you are doing.

This is a great choice if you are lacking lashes due to suffering from some sort of trauma or previous physical accident. Eyelash surgery could replace your lost lashes.

There will be a distinct improvement in your features as the eyelashes along with the eyebrows provide a perfect frame for the face.

The Disadvantages

Eyelash surgery can be very expensive. It will last a lifetime but you do have to invest a lot of your hard earned cash.

The procedure is invasive. You have to undergo cosmetic surgery which includes the use of an anesthetic.

Eyelash implants will cause aches and pains due to the nature of inserting individual hair follicles. It will also be uncomfortable having hair taken from one part of your body to be placed in another.

False Eyelashes - The Advantages

As they are not permanent, you can change up your look according to the event you are attending or how you are feeling.  If you need a conservative look, you can opt for a simple set but if you want to look outrageous you can opt for bright neon colours if that’s what takes your fancy.

These can be bought relatively cheaply and are available at your local mall, pharmacy or you can purchase them for a good price online.

It does not take long to apply these lashes.  You could be completely transformed within 10 – 15 minutes depending on your capability and speed.

The Disadvantages

The fact that they are not permanent means that you will have to apply them daily.  You will have to replace your set regularly and this can mount up in costs over time.

If you pick the wrong kind or you are not good at applying them, your lashes could end up looking distinctly fake. Not good if you want to pass them off as your own.

If you do not ensure that they are applied properly you could find yourself with an eyelash malfunction situation. I t could be embarrassing for you and anyone else who notices.

These are just a few of the advantages and disadvantages of eyelash transplants and using fake eyelashes. Once you have weighed up the pros and cons, you will know what the best solution for you is. The best course of action is to find out as much as you can to decide which will best suit your requirements.
