Top 5 One Piece Costumes

Updated on March 21, 2012

One Piece is one of the most famous anime series today. It’s not surprising since One piece packs everything that anyone would want to see from an anime series. The story of this anime series centers on a boy name Monkey D. Luffy who dreams to be the pirate king. Such ambition is not easy to achieve especially on their world where there is no place for the weak. He accidentally ate a devil fruit which gave his body rubber-like properties. However, this peculiar power also brought upon several consequences and one of the biggest is that it hinders him from floating so he can’t swim. This weakness is true to all devil fruit users which is very ironic since pirates are known to be sea-dwellers so one that does not even know how to swim is less likely to become the pirate king. Nevertheless, this boy has the determination as big as a mountain and courage as hot as the burning sun. Nothing can stop him from achieving his dream together with his crew, whom he met along his journey.

The growing fame of this anime series made it a common theme in cosplays and other gatherings of anime lovers. If you are planning to attend one, deciding as to which costume to wear is not an easy task. There are various factors that you should ponder about so you’ll end up enjoying every moment of the event. To help you on this matter, here are a few great ideas that you should consider.

Be The Pirate King!

Yes! Luffy is definitely a good pick. Aside from being the most famous character of the series, his getup is very easy to achieve as well. All you need is his trademark straw hat and a scar with a couple of stitches on you left eye. His dress slightly changed on the new world episodes but the color combination is still the same. He is one of the easiest anime characters to cosplay. Just fold your jeans, get an old red shirt and do a little bit of sewing.

A Strong Brother

Portgas D Ace should also be on this list. This character is perfect for those who are confident about their bodies since it requires the exposure of your midsection. The overall apparel may look complicated but it’s manageable. Like his brother Monkey D. Luffy, he also has a trademark hat. It’s not that hard to create this hat since it resembles those that cowboys often use. All you need to do is add a few details like a pair of goggles. The Whitebeard tattoo on his back is a must as well so make sure you know someone who can do it for you.

A Goddess Look!

For all the ladies out there, why not try the Nami look? His getup won’t be a problem particularly for those who have sexy bodies. This character is quite famous as well since she is the navigator of Luffy’s gang. The tattoo on her left shoulder is the only problem but of course it’s doable with the help of an artistic friend. Searching for shorts that looks like hers won’t be hard and her weapon is just a plain stick with a few details. Nevertheless, you need to color your hair to complete the look.

Be a Gentleman

If you don’t want a weird look but is still eager to attend a cosplay, Sanji’s look is perfect! He wears a plain black suit. That’s it! The only thing that separates him from being a normal waiter is his peculiar eyebrows, mustache, and hair color. These little details won’t be so hard to copy so you can save a lot of time, effort, and money in the process. Nevertheless, don’t underestimate the importance of this character since the Straw Hat Pirates won’t be complete without their cook and kicking expert.

Eneru the God!

Do you want a unique and cool look? Eneru is definitely a good choice. Although it requires a lot of effort and time to perfect his look, it’s worth it. The biggest problem you’ll face on this goal is the drums on his back. This is his trademark so you should make one that looks exactly the same as what we can see on the series. His weapon on the other hand is a plain pole with very little details so you don’t need to worry so much about it. His pants resemble those that genies usually wear so all you need to do is find the right color and add a few details to make it look convincing.

There are other great One Piece characters out there and the ones I mentioned are just a few of my favorites. Cosplays are fun so don’t forget to wear a smile as you brag your favorite One Piece character! Resourcefulness is also a must especially for those who can’t afford to spend hundreds of dollars to purchase premade costumes. What are you waiting for? Start creating the best One Piece costume and join a cosplay to personally experience the fun and excitement!
