Welcome to Switzerland

Welcome to the next stop on Trollbeads' World Tour, Switzerland , which is a multilingual country, where the snowy mountains are as real as the warming drink the legendary Saint Bernard dog brings to the adventurers, who have forgotten time while looking for fascinating rock crystals or for the rare Edelweiss flower. Experience that love, joy and friendship are timeless.

As those in Switzerland, would say, "Grüezi! Bonjour! Ciao! Bien di!"

Now please view the short video clip and answer the question: A woman receives what gift wrapped in a red bandana?

St. Bernard Dog

Switzerland is well known for having many St. Bernard dogs gracing their landscape, which are very lovely, friendly, strong dogs. These dogs have an excellent sense of direction, that has helped skiers (Switzerland is famous for their ski resorts) that are in distress and need to be rescued while on the slopes. Trollbeads promotes this one with a tiny flask around his neck for a dog's keen sense of smell.

This silver charm is for dog lovers all over and is very cute and lovable charm. I, for one am a huge dog person and have always been. This one truly reminds me of when I was younger and we had a dog. We did not have a St. Bernard though, but still does invoke some wonderful memories I have with my dog, Taffy when I was a little girl. My parents had Taffy before I was even born and he was my protector from the moment I arrived home from the hospital. Growing up with Taffy was truly a gift and even though Taffy is long gone, he will never be forgotten and this charm is nice reminder of him for me.

Edelweiss

Edelweiss are beautiful flowers that generally grow in higher altitudes between 1800 and 2700 meters. These flowers are known in Switzerland for being the "ultimate love charm" of the Alps mountains. It has been said that many young men in love have used these flowers to win the heart of the lady that they love by trying to picks these flowers on the highest of the mountain ledges. This flower is so popular that a picture of it can be found on the five-franc coin in Switzerland.

This silver charm is one of two charms in this collection that can symbolize love and is a beautiful replica of the Edelweiss flower. I happen to love flowers and this one is no exception to the rule. I feel this charm could be given to woman from her betrothed as a symbol of his undying love for her, just as the legend of the Edelweiss flower was stated earlier. Such a clever charm on Trollbeads part for this collection.

Pocket Watch

What would Switzerland do without chocolate and watches? In Switzerland, chocolate and watches are a huge industry and this pocket watch charm first and foremost symbolizes this. The second meaning behind this watch is stated beautifully in the writing that is inscribed , "Love is timeless," as well as the heart that adorns the center of this charm in 18-carat gold and demonstrates nicely that "Swiss Made" means more than chocolate and precision timepieces!

As I stated earlier there was more than one charm in this collection that symbolized love and this is the other one that does just that. However this charm is a bit more pricy than the Edelweiss flower, because it does contain the 18-carat gold heart. So in the end it may boil down to the cost as to which your betrothed can afford to buy, but can anyone really put a price on love?

Mountain Crystal

Trollbeads only has one glass charm in this collection and the mountain crystal is it. This sparkling mountain crystal reminds us of Swiss glaciers, where the ice never melts. The "mountain crystal" is also known for its healing powers.

As a young girl, I was invited to go to Italy and visit with my cousin at the time by my great-uncle (her grandfather), when he went to visit her again. He had mentioned that we could possibly ski the Italian Alps. Well, he actually passed away later that year and I never did make it to visit my Italian cousin, nor did I ever get to see the Italian Alps, but this charm for some strange reason made me recall this almost trip and why I never actually did get there. I must say that this charm is absolutely gorgeous though and looks exactly like I would have pictured the Alps looking like. Very well done on Trollbeads part.
