No anti aging skin care solutions?- Weird!

It was a sudden thought. What if there were no anti aging solutions in this world? What would happen to the millions of people who cannot do without their daily make up routine? This idea was quite funny but intriguing as well.

If we were to give this idea a serious thought, what would be the solution? Very simple. People would be walking about, flaunting their natural skin without flinching a wee bit, because without cosmetics and make up, it would be a perfectly casual thing to appear just as you are.

With eye make up, foundation, mascara, concealer and lipsticks being unheard of words, who would ever worry about their looks? The focus would then be on the way you carried yourself, the confidence that you exuded, and your overall attitude and these would determine whether a person is good looking or otherwise. Quite interesting, isn't it?

Fortunately (or unfortunately?) this is not the situation today. On the contrary, we find it difficult to choose from the innumerable range of cosmetics presently available on the market. Cashing in on the endless want of the millions of people to look young and attractive, spurious products also have made their way into the households.

In the Absence of Cosmetics

Even if cosmetics were not introduced, people would still be looking for ways to make themselves appear attractive by using natural home-made face masks and lotions. This is to say that there have been several methods of facial and manicures done even long long ago.

Body massage is one of those great techniques of the yesteryears which is very successful to this day, in helping women retain a youthful skin. People have resorted to massaging as a healing therapy for centuries in almost all cultures around the world.

Human touch has the power to heal the body physically and emotionally. Massage stimulates the circulatory, lymphatic and neuromuscular systems in the body and influences their active functioning.

Ancient healing therapies

According to Chinese medical literature, massage therapy is an age old traditional method of healing introduced almost 4000 years ago. It is still a very successful therapy practiced in China. In India, it is a part of Ayurveda, the traditional medical practice.

How massage therapy became popular in the US

In the United States, a type of massage known as the Swedish Massage was introduced in the mid 19th century and it became very popular by the end of the century with several American doctors resorting to this healing technique.

The beginning of the 20th century saw the advancement of technology and prescription medicines, so massage therapy took a back seat with only a few massage therapists continuing to practice this age old method of curing patients with depression symptoms and conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.

However, as the 20th century drew to a close, this ancient technique saw its revival in a big way as the medical fraternity began to recognize the benefits of alternative medicine and its powerful healing capabilities.
