when people bleach their skin to took lighter or get a tan to look darker is it really about...
their skin? or is it more about an emptiness from within.
It must be an emptiness within to do it for the reasons you stated. In the northern and western European countries we don't get as much sun as other parts of the world and so we get out in it when we can, one of the benefits of that is the formulation of vitamin D. Then there are those who sit under sun ray lamps under the mistaken belief that tanning their skin makes them look better, but, of course. there is the vitamin D factor. But what about those who paint fake tan on their skin????
I can't see any reason why people would want to bleach their skin, what is the purpose, tanning in the sun is natural, bunging chemicals on isn't, it can also have some absurd looking effects of mottling, and some dangerous effects of peeling.
I think that depends more on the person. If a person is bleaching there skin because they feel they are too dark then YES something is distrubing about that. However some people (especially African Americans) bleach certain parts of there skin to create an even skin tone. I know from personal experience. As a teenager I had some major acne which left very dark noticable marks on my face. I used a bleaching cream to get rid of those marks. I think tanning on the other hand is more for fashion just like anything else people do to aid their appearance.

I think everyone has there own preferences, You would think people prefer dark skin that's why they are out in the sun and at the tanning beds Always striving to look better, but not striving to be better people.

there is still the premise that lighter is better and more acceptable in American society. Lighter complected women whether Caucasian, Latina, Asian, or African-American are considered to be more beautiful than those with more ethnic features. This beauty obsession with lightness results in...
