Have women everywhere stopped wearing nylons, or is it a Twin Cities fad?
None of the women who work in the towers I'm in wear nylons and frankly I welcome the trend--I have a large black fur-shedding dog and usually end up with plenty of fur under the nylons. (ewww)
Since I rarely have a reason to wear dresses or skirts, I didn't even know pantyhose were no longer "in style" until I read about it on a forum. However, I'd wear them anyway if I wear a skirt or dress.
Forgive me, Laura.... but I can't help imagining you, getting ready for work, and sitting at the end of your bed with a pair of pantihose in-hand - getting ready to don them - and your dog winding himself in amongst your legs to get some of his shedding fur upon you..... I'd guess that he's doing this in order to "mark his territory".......
Thanks for the vision.......
Woops, totally wrong vision--I get dog hair embedded in the nylons as my dog brushes past me, walk past furniture (fur magnets), and it's nearly immpossible to get out--doesn't wash out either. (Not everyone owns pets, Laura. Duh!)
I came of age in the 80's when women wore nylon hose, nylon stockings with everything. As a man it is very disheartening for me to this "no hose" trend. Every man i know loves to see a womans legs and feet in pantyhose. Who wants to see pasty legs?
Fun question. I wonder if it's a generational thing. I do wear them...was raised that way. My daughters and their friends can't stand them.
Hi SPK5367! It might be generational! I was raised wearing nylons and only recently realized that nobody else was. Who knew? So, after feeling awkward without nylons the first few days, for the most part I skip them now. Ha--and all dog fur issues!
I find them VERY uncomfortable! I rarely wear skirts or dresses, like never so I never worry about the issue but when I was younger I was taught to wear nylons even if they were the nude shade. I usually wear dress pants and open toed shoes so nylons would look odd with their dark seem showing in the shoe.
I don't know about 'everywhere' but personally, I stopped wearing those horrible things a long time ago. I live in a small, rural community and rarely see women wearing hose anymore, except for the elderly.
I hate pantyhose! In St. Louis, most women do not wear them.
I agree that it is a generational thing. My mother never goes anywhere without her slip and knee-highs. I generally don't wear them at all, unless it is really cold, or required by my employer. For the most part, employers no longer require them, and I'm so glad about that!
I was raised wearing 'tights' everytime I wore a dress or skirt. I stopped once I came to my senses. Now, I only wear them in the winter and if they compliment my attire any other time.
I used to wear them any time I wore a dress or skirt. I pretty much quit wearing dresses or skirts because I hated them so much. I love the new fad and am back wearing skirts just about all the time. I get peds to wear with my shoes because they are a bit uncomfortable. Peds are little nylon foot covers that do not extend to the top of your shoes. I also wear a lot of sandals which don't require any type stocking.
