Cemetery, Graveyard Tattoos
Tattoos of Graveyards and Cemeteries
Out of curiosity I did some research to see if there was any interest in having a graveyard or cemetery tattooed on a person, and interestingly, there was.
In my mind, when the thought of a graveyard comes up, it is differentiated from a cemetery in that I think of a graveyard as much older and having a more Gothic look.
While a cemetery will include some of both of those elements, overall, there is a more clean and modern look when I think of it being a cemetery, against the more unkempt, ominous feel of a graveyard, which is usually much smaller and rural than a cemetery would be.
Again, this is all in my mind, and may not have a lot of basis in reality.
Either way, tattoos of places people are buried more typically entail the description I gave of a graveyard, including the Gothic appearance.

Pet Cemetary Tattoos
Finally, there were some people who decided to have an image from the Pet Cemetery horror film, or a pet cemetery itself inked on them; something I hadn't thought of before.
There were as many pet cemetaries as there were human graveyards as far as tattoo designs were concerned, suggesting a very strong connection between people and their pets.

Little Girl Looking at Graveyard Tattoo
It wasn't clear from this first tattoo of a graveyard exactly what it was the person wanted to convey, but it was interesting in that is chose what appears to be a mirror that is being looked through to view the cemetery scene.
While simple in design, I like how that works together with the little girl, giving a sense of innocence to the design, as she apparently looks upon the grave of someone she cares for. If you look closely there's a little red bow on her back. That's a nice touch.

Cemetery Gates Tattoo
Here is a much more detailed look at a graveyard scene, with what appears to be an unlucky fellow having his bike crushed by the skeleton. That hat flowing through the air makes it look like it may have been the caretaker of the cemetery that had the unfortunate incident.
The Gothic look of the cemetery is great, and the absence of the victim is a very effective tool, as it makes you wonder what happened to him..

Pet Graveyard Tattoo
Here is an example of a pet cemetery tattoo, with was seems to be a beloved dog escaping its earthly bounds. The detail was fascinating in that it includes a Star of David, along with the snake at the bottom of the design. Placing the rest of the graveyard in the distance gives it some nice perspective.

Pet Cemetery Horror Tattoo
The artist of this tattoo really captured the disturbing theme of the Pet Cemetery story well, with the cat walking toward you and those haunting eyes of the man looking at you at the top. The cat walking in the midst of the headstones is an awesome look.
Another strong part of this tattoo design is the way the browns and blacks were used together to create the macabre look.

Pet Cemetery Tattoo - Woman Holding Baby
I thought this Pet Cemetery tattoo design generated the most emotion and feeling, as the woman attempts to protect the baby from the forces that are being released and encountered.
The empty-eyed, emotionless stare of the cat gives you a troubling feeling, as the bats fly over her head above the cemetery. Powerful tattoo design.
- Dandelion Flower and Seed Tattoo Designs

Awesome Graveyard Tattoo
When deciding to include this tattoo, I wanted to allow you to see the best color and design I could, which unfortunately left much of the cemetery out of the picture. To me it's worth it to see the way this particular graveyard tattoo was designed, including the blending of the dark colors which look so awesome to me.
That terrific dragon hovering over the graveyard is fantastic, and is definitely a tattoo sure to attract a lot of attention and admiration because of its quality and subject matter.
As you can see from this interesting choice of graveyard or cemetery tattoo designs, there are a lot of ways the subject matter can be expressed by an artist.
All of these have a unique message or storyline being conveyed, and all of them have that disturbing sense we all feel when contemplating the grave and the after life.
