Most businesses and many private homes today contains various networks of computers. Even a small business may have several computers linked together, from the secretary’s desk to the sales team to the boss’s office. Hubs versus Switches

Before you start shopping for an 8 port switch, you should probably now a bit about the differences between network hubs and switches and the advantage of purchasing a switch rather than setting up a hub of computers. In a hub, all computers in the network are linked together equally, so that whatever information is sent to one computer through the internet, that information is sent to all the other computers as well. In the same way, when one computer in a hub sends out information to the internet, all the others in the hub will receive it too. What can occur in situations like this is that your bandwidth is exceeded and your internet connection slows down. This occurs despite the fact that not all computers in your network need to receive all of the information that is received and sent.

Their EtherFast 8 port switch runs at speeds up to 200 megabytes per second, making this switch ideal for sending data of very large sizes. Video and multimedia data are passed through the network and to and from the internet at very high rates of speed.
