Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS Navigator Bluetooth with Speak Commands

Updated on October 3, 2018

Garmin Nuvi 3790T

Are you ready to upgrade your GPS? I ask that because if you purchased a GPS device over the past couple of years you may be surprised at what is available now. Features such as Lane Assist, Junction Assist, Voice Activated controls, Speech Recognition, pedestrian navigation, multi-touch touchscreen, landscape or portrait orientation, Bluetooth, 3D Terrain and ecoRoutes have been added. Lifetime Maps (Nuvi 3790LMT) and free traffic reports (including Traffic Trends) are a huge benefit when driving in an unfamiliar area.

How thick is your GPS? Now the Garmin Nuvi 3790T is approximately the thickness of a yellow #2 pencil. Reduce the chance of your car being broken into because of your GPS – this one is so easy to take with you. Speaking of taking it with you - did you ever have to park blocks from an unfamiliar restaurant in an unfamiliar metropolitan area and lose your sense of direction? The Nuvi 3790T works as a personal GPS while you walk while in the pedestrian navigation mode.

trafficTrends and myTrends

The Garmin Nuvi 3790T GPS Navigator is not only feature rich, it has features that help you on a daily basis. Of course you know your way to work – but what if there is a new road project that started over the weekend? The traffic pattern will change for everyone that travels on that particular road. The trafficTrends feature will know the traffic flow and will alert you of the problem. You can either view the traffic issue or you can take a detour around the traffic issue. If the traffic pattern is different during varying times of the day – it will know. The myTrends feature will eventually learn your traffic patterns and will be able to give you estimated times of arrival as well as how the traffic is moving ahead of you.

There are no subscriptions or fees to pay for the traffic alerts.

City Transit

City dwellers and visitors alike often use public transit. cityXplorer maps (may cost up to $9.99) are available for some cities in North America and Europe. You will see where to catch a bus, train, tram or subway, their schedules and approximate arrival times at your destination.

Lane Assist

What if you get re-routed onto an expressway that you do not know well? How frustrating is it to miss your exit? Lane Assist will tell you which lane to be in ahead of time. No one wants to be late for work, school or to a meeting.

Voice Recognition and Speak Commands

You may own a GPS that tells you directions but the Nuvi 3790T lets you tell it what you want to do next. The 4.3 touchscreen makes the menus easy to use but the Speak Commands lets you drive with your hands on the wheel. The Nuvi 3790T asks you what menu you want to choose from and once you say it – the 3790T will continue to ask you questions until your entire selection has been recorded.

Bluetooth

Many states have made it illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving. Hands-free driving is possible with the use of the Bluetooth connection feature of your cell phone and the Bluetooth connection of the Garmin Nuvi 3790T. As a call comes in all you need to do is tap the screen and start talking. To make a call you dial from the Touchscreen of the Nuvi 3790T. The Garmin Nuvi 3790T has a built-in speaker and microphone.

3D Terrain

Along with the Turn-by-Turn directions spoken by the Garmin Nuvi 3790T you will see the lay of the land. It is comforting to see something familiar when you are not sure of where you are and whether you are really headed in the right direction. The 3D feature of the 3790T shows hills, mountains and prominent buildings. That quick verification of your surroundings is calming.

ecoRoutes

The Garmin Nuvi 3790T can please anyone that wants to live green. Not only does

Other Features

There is a JPEG photo viewer (via a MicroSD card), a world clock including time zones, a currency and measurement converter, a calculator and other typical features of GPS devices. If you download a photo from Gamin Connect you can navigate to it. If an emergency situation occurs the Where-am-I feature gives your exact location such as longitude, latitude, closet intersection, the closest hospital, police station or gas stations. The Garmin Nuvi Lock feature is a theft deterrent. If you do not like the voice on the 3790T you can change it. If you want a different vehicle to depict yours on the screen you can change it. Custom voices and custom vehicles can be downloaded to the Garmin Nuvi 3790T.

Instead of getting lost chose to have a GPS device. If you worry that your car will be broken into chose a very portable GPS device. If you are a techie type person chose to have a GPS that has multiple modern features. If you want others to notice your GPS chose one that looks different. The Garmin Nuvi 3790T is portable, it has very modern features and it definitely looks different than previous models.
