LG Cosmos Software Update

Updated on October 3, 2011

LG Cosmos Software Update

The LG Cosmos software update is designed to update the firmware on the VN250 phone.  Verizon offers and over the air solution described in my cosmos problems hub near the bottom.

There is a second option available as well, a hardwired version you can do from your PC.  You simply download the software update from the Verizon LG update page.  Once downloaded, you receive instructions to plug in the phone and follow a couple of instructions.  The instructions page is shown below.

For me it took about a minute to do the update. The phone had to do one or 2 reboots...don't recall but it installed just fine.

So, if you phone is doing odd things and you can't seem to get the over the air update to work for you, try this hard wired PC update tool and get your phone software updated. If problems persist, take your phone into the nearest Verizon store and have them reset your phone and do the update as they can also test of other types of malfunctions and problems.

Good Luck.

Current Version as of 12/26/10

SW version   VN250V04

Update

I tried to do the same thing for my wife's phone but I could not get it to work.  I went into the local Verizon store and they did indeed upgrade the phone over the computer.  It took about 10 minutes.  The problem was in fact solved and the phone works now.

@ calen L- sounds like you need to take it into a Verizon store. Sometimes the OverTheAir update does not work well if you don't have a good signal for an extended period of time.

Is there any software for Nokia 5800? My cell has caused a lot of problems, and it costs me every time I go to fix it up. The screen blackens , as soon as I connect my cell with any other cell.

dahoglund - depending on how you use a cell phone that's probably for the better. I got into all this because I needed it for business. Figured I'd share it with the world. If I had my preference I'd probably be perfectly happy with a tracfone. Thanks for stopping by.

We have not gotten beyond keeping a tracfone to carry on trips for emergencies. Someday we will get into some of this other stuff though.
