A tablet PC is a computer gadget that has the characteristics of a desktop computer in a form of a handheld tablet. As such, it features touch- sensitive screen acting as the main input device and an equipped panel computer. Although the term tablet PC is now loosely used for portable tab computers, it was actually popularized by Microsoft in 2001 and was meant to replace newspapers until new operating systems started using the term tablet PC and introducing more features such as virtual keyboards and handwriting software through the tablet’s touch screen


A tablet PC uses wireless adapters for local area and Internet connections. It also has software applications like web browsers, games and other kinds of applications. The universal size of the tablet PC is 12” with 800x1280 pixels of screen resolutions. It is indeed a revolutionary device that has captured the imagination and fancy of tech executives, gadget enthusiasts and bloggers. Since its inception, computer companies have launched their own versions of the touch-sensitive tablet device to grab a share of its continually expanding market.

The tablet PC has also become a savior of sorts to a number of industries like the publishing and showbiz industries. It has created an alternative to reading books, watching the news, movies and television shows. Its convenience is undeniable enabling users to enjoy the web applications anywhere and anytime they want. True enough a tablet PC is amazingly light and can be tucked in small and cramped spaces without hitches due to their automatic and effortless automatic off features. Even artists have found a tremendous advantage with it because this gadget allows them to create illustrations using a pen or a stylus. Creativity is then enhanced because of such ready gadget for the art.


With all these advantages however it is still important to know what to look for in buying one as computer tablet companies are coming up with new versions of the gadget every so often. In keeping up with the latest technology what are the advantages of tablet PC that should considered in order to get a good deal, one that is worth the price of the tablet?


It is important to know personal needs where tablet PCs are concerned before making the purchase. This will also determine how much one can spend or would rather scrimp on to get the best tablet. Most common concerns aside from price are screen size, memory size, operating system and processors. Operating system is essential since nowadays most users have a certain loyalty and liking to one operating system. But this should not be a means to close one’s doors on other operating system especially if personal needs are offered in other systems. Aside from the question of brand loyalty, most advantages of tablet PC are found in one and all brands. The only caveat in fact especially to its mobility advantage is the battery life. Nothing will ever beat a plugged PC sitting on one’s desk but the convenience of being able to use the PC features elsewhere other than on the desk can trump this disadvantage anytime.
