Writers are born before of printing press, so definitely we don`t need to publish to be writers. I`m sure that some of us are meant to be writers. They can discover it or not, but they have the potentiality to do that. You are a writer, moreover, since we are reading one of your piece and finding it interesting, well written and pleasant to read. If yours pieces need of editing, then just spend some time working on them! Don`t waste your job, I am sure that it would be a pity for literature (and for Hubs also!) :)

Ladybird like you the only things I have had published is a poem and a few letters etc. I have written 2 romance novels. But like I said before, I dont have the technical knowledge. Maybe I do but dont know when and how and cannot pick up when it is wrong. cliches and all that garbage. But I still write and dream. Everyone has dreams so keep on writing. and have fun too. meeting friends all the time especially in hubs.

" The good writers touch life often. The mediocre ones run a quick hand over her. The bad ones rape her and leave her for the flies." ~Ray Bradbury

Writing is about pure passion tempered by reason; this is how I write, not why I write...Writing is like a golf swing...the good ones are loose, natural, free-swinging... the not so good ones are structured, stiff, mechanical, and artificial...Thanks for this interesting Hub, and remember, the waste basket is a writers best friend...Go for it !!!
