    Why would it be important to you to receive a Google+ invitation?

    I have seen people on Twitter saying they really want a Googe+ invitation. Is this just Google's way of making "+" seem like the next best thing?

    yes I think it is all just part of the hype, good marketing tactics I guess because people always want something more if there is an exclusive aspect to it...just my thoughts smile

    I think it's a very smart marketing tactic, but at same time, this way makes it easier for Google to scale their efforts.  If they had made it publicly available to everyone and millions of people tried joining all at once, well it would be catastrophic to their servers and they wouldn't be able to handle all that traffic, and then the site could potentially go down, which then would cause people to have  a terrible first impression of the new project.  I have an invite, and I must say it's an interesting thing to spend a little time perusing through.
