    You can install the StumbleUpon.
StumbleUpon is an Internet community that allows its users to discover and rate Web pages, photos, and videos. It is a personalized recommendation engine which uses peer and social-networking principles.
Web pages are presented when the user clicks the "Stumble!" button on the browser's toolbar. StumbleUpon chooses which Web page to display based on the user's ratings of previous pages, ratings by his/her friends, and by the ratings of users with similar interests. Users can rate or choose not to rate any Web page with a thumbs up or thumbs down, and clicking the Stumble button resembles "channel-surfing" the Web. StumbleUpon also allows their users to indicate their interests from a list of nearly 500 topics to produce relevant content for the user. There is also one-click blogging built in as well.
Toolbar versions exist for Firefox, Mozilla Application Suite and Internet Explorer, but StumbleUpon also works with some independent Mozilla-based browsers. Third party toolbars have also been created for Safari, Opera and Google Chrome.

You can block it from your entire network by setting up your router to use  It can be set up to filter virus sites, porn sites and the like from ever arriving at your house. You can also use opendns on just your computer, the site will tell you how.

There are plugins that work for a browser but those don't work as well as you need them to and can be defeated of you are trying to protect a child.

One of the addons for Firefox is a free, third-party add-on called BlockSite. It blocks sites that have been added to its "blacklist," but it can also be set up to disable any links to the blocked sites by showing non-functional text instead of hyperlinks.
