It's sort of like a place to bookmark things you find online- interesting ideas, quotes, pictures, DIY projects, recipes, etc. You pin what you want in categories of your choosing along with a picture. Other people search for ideas within Pinterest....you follow boards that interest you, people follow you, you can comment, tag, etc. Not really like Facebook at all. But it is a social thing. You can pin your articles, posts, etc and when people search for that topic they visit and repin getting you more traffic and exposure
I think you can call it as a social bookmarking site. You can share your interests with friends in facebook
I find it more comparable to StumbleUpon than Facebook. It's a place where you can bookmark and share the best things on the internet with others who are looking for the best things on the internet.
I'm a little ignorant here... what is StumbleUpon??
It's a website that brings you to random websites based on your interests. It's pretty fun and you find awesome stuff. Here is an article I wrote about it. http://nochance.hubpages.com/hub/The-Ph … umble-Upon
Thanks for your hubpage link. I will check it out!

I was wondering how often a hub should be social bookmarked and if my internet history is deleted i do not know which hubs I bookmarked. I don't want to be considered a spammer. How many hubs do you guys bookmark at a given time and do you usually bookmark the low traffic or high or?
