HubPages is not a blogging platform.
For blogging, you'll do much better if you use a site that was designed for that type of writing and content.
Hi Silver Eyed Wolf,
Firstly, you have a very uncommon username. I like it.
Secondly, my answer. We cannot say HubPages as your own blog, we can say 60% of yours and 40% of HubPages' as per their profit sharing algorithm.
Simply it is not like, blogger.com. HubPages drive traffic to your blog even you do not do any promotion. You can even get huge traffic even very first day of your hub here. So in that case it is much better than having a personal blog. Likewise their are many differences, advantages and disadvantages between personal blog & HubPages.
So my openion is having personal blog is different than writing in HubPages. It is better to have both. If your objective is earning money, then it is better to have more options not only personal blog or HubPages. Sorry, Im out of the quiz.
Anyway I hope this would help you to clear your mind. If you need any help, let me know. Im happy to help you.
You can't use hubpages as personal blog. But some of the hubs you create sometimes do appear like blog anyway. Essays, poetry, stories, don't work on hubpages.

Although many hubs may appear as like blogs. You're better of setting up your own blog from some of the major blogging platforms.
I have setup and run many wordpress blogs myself. You can setup as many as you want for free.
So you want to have a blog, and you see an ad inviting you to write on HubPages. It's free, it's easy to use - it's perfect! But is it? Fact is, HubPages is a great place to write IF you don't blog read more

What are the advantages to using Hubpages over a personal blog for which you own the domain?I've been thinking about it and I'd just like to hear some pros and cons either way. It's tempting to start my own site and keep 100% of the ad impressions. However, I know that Hubpages gets your pages...

I am not all that familiar with the ends and outs of blogging. My understanding is that you can blog about anything- from handy parenting tips to telling people about how you slipped on some ice and landed on your booty in front of a million people. (I don't know why you would write about that, but...

I am still pretty new to online writing so can someone explain why it is better to post articles on hubpages rather than your own blog? it cost nothing to make a blog, you can lay it out like a webpage, and keep all the ad revenue.

Do you guys have any tips on choosing a blog name?I've been pondering the idea of creating a blog in conjunction with my hubpages. Do any of you have blogs that you use to help get traffic to your hubs? And do you have any tips on choosing a blog name? I'm really stuck with that issue
