Mine does the same thing, esp. when playing online. I think it might be the internet, if it's only when you're multi-gaming. Other then that, if it has the "red ring of death," send it to Microsoft HQ.
I'm not expert, so I'll recommend a forum, but the only other thing I can think of is your hardrive may be too full (which is hard to do on an elite)?

this method is for a lot of reasons, unreadable disk, freezes, etc..
