How does the phone companies know you are using a Motorola Red phone?
Phone companies in the UK promise to donate 5% of your monthly bill for calls made from a Motorola Red phone, using any SIM card. How do phone companies know you are using this phone?
It's entirely possible that the phone itself has identification, which can be read by the sim card.
Probably a similar system as websites being able to know what version of windows you're running and which browser.
all the phones have IMEI number that u can get by dialing *#06# send in ur phone
even u can know if had the IMEI in this page, www.numberingplans.com n appear the phone that ur using
so when u turn on ur phone all the cell tower detect the SIM n IMEI, so the company check the database n then get the phone ur using....
hope this solve ur question
