You have a dangerous situation. Please get an electrician to come out and fix this problem. You could damage your property or worse, injure or kill yourself. Electrical problems are unforgiving. A mistake here could be catastrophic. From what you have described, the wiring is all screwed up.
Hello Billy you may be trying to put a 110 breaker ina 100 amp fuse box and that won't work at all. The advice to get a professional electrician as soon as possible is good and sound advice, because overheating can cause a fire too. DON'T waste time Steve was right 100% also.
