believe that this is deterring adolescence from learning how to spell? Having a Facebook and Myspace account myself, I see a lot of misspelling words and the incorrect use of homophones in a sentence, for example in stead of spelling "through", they spell "threw".
I believe that people are shortening words for convenience even though they may know how to spell. For example, using luv for love and u for you. This may come from texting and is carrying over to social networks.
