In India, everyone fancies Acer, Dell and Vaio. Dell is heavy but Acer is aesthetic and has good battery power. Its sturdy too.
Working in a leading telecom operator, i can tell you that IBM/Lenovo is the most preferred brand for professionals.
I have used two of their laptops (R50e and W500). The build quality is excellent, the performance and reliability is extremely good, too.
And i also own a Acer Netbook (AOA110), which i like for its ultra portability.
