Yeah! There should be. Probably because it would cause a lot of fights. But you're right; Why? Because others can't handle people being honest, and direct? Interesting question, which I guess I can't answer. : )
Because it would get used. Facebook is interested in marketing (selling your eyes) to paying customers. The last thing they need is their customers getting disliked. I agree, there should be a dislike button. I don't "like" anything, it just seems childish and redundant to me.
