What major changes should users expect when they adopt the Windows 8 operating system?
Are there any serious changes that users can look forward to in the new operating system?
The changes in the interface are major and can be awkward or annoying at first. The absence of the Start button is the biggest one, but so is the focus on tablet-like interface. Desktop/laptop users have to find the way to navigate via shortcuts or mouse movement, and the access to common tools like Control Panel and others is pretty different.

How long does it take you to adjust to major changes in your life. For example, unemployment, a child moving out, a child getting married, relocation, starting a new job, etc.I'm learning it takes me about 4 weeks...

For Windows users: would you change your operating system if someone helped you install it?For example, Mac OS X (when you buy a Mac) or GNU/Linux, like Ubuntu Linux?
