Do we have a computer geek who can tellme how to get my chrome broser to activate?
Please help, my computer well, Chrome crashed last evening at about 1 am when I was about to begin a Hub after emailing a friend to chat. I am not knowing what to do. I uninstalled it, could not catch the messages I got and reinstalled twice and am not sure about all the sync things with Google, I had it all set up until this crash and burn...had 1 hour sleep in 24...going on fumes now!!!! This barge is sinking quick!!!
I'm not a computer geek--you should know that first off. However, my husband and I each switch to using Chrome last year, from IE. In the last month or two, the function of Chrome deteriorated. It got bad enough that we both switched back to using IE. I was pleased to find IE can now do some things it could not do and had caused me to swtich to Chrome in the first place. Also, after serveral days and a couple reboots of the computer, my IE internet windows function so much better than in Chrome. They are not slow, like Chrome had gotten to be, nor are they getting hung up very much--not near as much as in Chrome. This does not address your actual question, but just in case it applies, I'm sharing our experience. Hope you get the help you need and catch up on the lost sleep!
Thank you for your concern and suggestions, especially experiences. I am still not certain, I know I took the browser off and it was almost an immediate reaction after the crash since Flash player had been acting up. Will keep you posted:)
Chrome works fine in my system. I just don't like it creating too much processes when you open new tabs. Hard to compute RAM usage.
Anyway, the answer is system restore. restore your computer to an earlier point/time where Chrome was still working. Unless there are no recent restore points or the others are too far way back. It's worth trying. It can be reversed anyway.
What is your OS?
on XP type "rstrui" on run
on 7 type "restore" the start menu
P.S. I'm not a computer geek
Operating system is Windows Internet Explorer 7+9 64-bit, and I hate to tell you but at around 4 a.m. I was doing a system restore and it would not go, could not find a restore point when the chrome was still installed. aw snap, I was warned!!
that's bad. can you tell us more on how it crashed? error messages if any? The best thing you can do in the meantime is use another browser.
Using registry clean up software might do the trick. it could be errors in the registry.
