Why is my computer slow, why do we have browsers that creators make needing our input?

Why are our computers so slow, and why don't the manufacturers design them to eliminate updates the way one company does? Apple

I have never used an Apple. New owners rave about them, but I think like other computers, Apple has its share of problems and one problem that bothers me is that the one size fits all attitude is not to my liking. As my needs change, I can upgrade my desktop. I am using a 10 year-old Dell. It was an XP machine. it is now Windows Seven. I run dual monitors, added ram, installed new driver as needed. I have it networked in my house and use a wireless printer. Apple makes a good machine, but its higher price, and smaller selection of software, just never has appealed to me. If your computer is running slow, you might need to get some malware removal software and something to fix errors in your registry. Make sure you virus protection is up to date and it may be time to defrag your hard drive.

I agree with another poster, Firefox is the superior browser. I only use Internet Explore when I have to, and Chrome has just never done anything to attract my interest. Google is great and so is GMail. I just do not care for Google Chrome.

The only other thing I can add is you may be downloading some utilities, which promise to do something useful and often they do, but they turn out to be memory hogs and slow down the whole process. Also, these programs can case internal conflicts.

Any computer can be slow, even an Apple. I work in an IT environment where we have Windows, OSX and Linux. Any one of these systems can become slow or out of date as new technology progresses.

As far as updates go, I'm not sure if you mean hardware or software. From the software perspective, Apple definitely updates. Check System Updates in the System Preferences panel. This will provide updates to the operating system as well as installed Apple and Microsoft applications. Hardware may also be updated on a Mac. Memory, hard drive, video card, optical drives; these are all upgradeable.

In essence, Apple computers are a PC running a different OS. Same processor, same memory. Almost all of the same components go into them. The operating system itself (OSX) is actually running on UNIX.

I like Apple hardware, but I like to pick what goes into my systems which is why I choose Windows or Linux based PCs.

    Cheers!
