Which word processor software application were you using when this happened?  Microsoft Word?  Notepad?  Something else?  More information may be required to answer your question.

You might also investigate the The Windows 8 Compatibility Mode. (Right-click the program's icon and choose Properties to find this.)   This utility can tell Windows 8 to "act like" an older version of the operating system.

I had a problem with the keyboard also after installing Windows 8.  When I typed numbers they appeared as either a blank or as the letter that I had previously typed before hitting the number.  I had Constant Guard software installed from Comcast, and was using their version of Norton Anti Virus.  They weren't compatible with Windows 8, and as soon as I uninstalled them, the problem cleared up.  I suggest that you check to make sure that all of your installed software is compatible.  During the install, I was informed that certain programs wouldn't run with Windows 8, and I uninstalled them all.  Hope this helps.

We got some help from support and downloaded a missing file and so far all is working well.  Still many bugs in windows 8 as an add on.
