What is the deal with America worshiping Baal?  And why is it so deceptive?

Let's face it! If you scratch the surface of America's culture, you'll see Baal at work very clearly.  Baal is another word for Lord, but not just any Lord.  It's another word for satan and he has done everything to take over our country through deception.  Whose to say our country will stand much longer?  As a country, we have turned our back on God and our culture worships sex, violence and money.  We as a country will have to pay dearly for it.  A man will always reap what he sows and at this point, it's becoming an immoral majority instead of a MORAL majority.  Any thoughts on the issue?

I totally agree with you. I think the main problem is people are being taught it's ok to do whatever makes them feel good. It's a very egocentric society. Why is it deceptive? Because it's leading to chaos. Everything that makes a person feel good isn't always for the greater good. As more people do as they please, more people care less and less what happens to the people around them. Good is being slowly replaced with evil which is seen as good.

Absolutely agree. In the last days, people will be lovers of themselves.  It will all be about themselves and not those around them.  So many people are being "used" sexually, financially, etc.  It's costing our country billions but we refuse to look

I don't think most Americans believe there is a devil. Therefore (they) do not consider themselves worshiping him. If they really did we would not have "devil food chocolate cake", "deviled eggs", "blood of satan cocktails".
The following url has plenty of facts concerning Americans and religion. http://hirr.hartsem.edu/research/fastfa … facts.html
It's estimated there are over 350,000 churches in the U.S. There are over 68 million people who consider themselves to be Catholic, another 16 million plus Southern Baptist, and tons of other millions of people spread out through various other religious denominations. Total membership in just the (top 25) church organizations: 145,691,446, million members down 1.15 percent. That is almost half of the country!  The bible is still the number one selling book in this country.
If a candidate ever runs for president and "openly" states he or she is an (atheist) and gets (elected) that is when you might consider worrying.
Too often we confuse what we see in the media, newspapers, music videos, movies, and other entertainment outlets with how (real) people are living today in thousands of towns across the country.
The things that make the news are the "unusual" or "controversial". The average American goes to work a job 40+ hours, feeds and clothes their family, pay their bills, and squeeze in a little entertainment during the weekend. More often than not it's little more than watching television, going shopping, the movies, a sporting event, or socializing with family and friends. Naturally that is not going to be covered on the nightly news! Nonetheless that is the typical story for most households. The reality is far from doom and gloom.

The reality is since 1973 approximately 50 million abortions have been performed. Sexual diseases cost US $17 billion every year. There are 19 million new cases every year.  This is not typical.  This is a sad reflection of what is REALLY GOING on!!!

It seems like we are raised to do this without even realizing what we're actually doing. As Americans, we're raised to believe that success and happiness are synonyms of power, money, and self image; that life is a "competition" against everyone else to work your hardest and reach the top of whatever it is you do in life. If you win, you're successful. If you lose, you're a failure. You can find this in elementary schools, all the way up to our leaders in politics, and even (sadly) in the Church. We either need a desperate change of heart or a clean slate, and we need it soon.

I absolutely agree.  We have a culture that increasingly disrespects God and puts spirituality on the shelf with fairy tales.  None of those things will bring fulfillment.  A review of Ecclesiasties will prove that point.

Too often I think people equate obedience with morality. If someone follows the 10 commandments, are they moral? Not necessarily. They are obedient. Being moral only happens when one understands and CHOOSES to do what is right.

And that is the problem: choice. freedom is a tricky thing because people have to choose to be good people. We could go over to Saudi Arabia and there is a good chance we would find people engaging in fewer vices (openly at least). That's not due to greater morality, it is due to a more rigid code of conduct (i.e. less freedom).

If you ask me one of the greatest deceptions in this country actually comes from Christians. They want people to believe that sex is the devil with a piece of candy on a string trying to lure us into a dark alley. It isn't. It is a natural and normal human activity that when healthy is a positive benefit to our lives.

Another great deception is that our 'wars' are somehow morally righteous and not the murderous violence that they actually are. The third great deception is Capitalism (greed love), perpetuated as the norm in this country, so I don't know why you are talking about Baal. The only creatures I see trying to deceive us about sex, violence, and money are people. People who quite commonly walk around with a Bible.

I absolutely disagree.  Do you realize that fornication outside of marriage whether single or married along with stds and aboritons is costing this country BILLIONS??? Yes, BILLIONS.  I absolutely feel that holiness and purity have been pushed aside.

STDs, abortions, unwanted pregnancies, teen pregnancies, etc. are problems of education, not 'purity'. And once again the main advocates of keeping kids stupid regarding sexuality are Christians.

Problems of education, really?  You can't be serious.  Kids have had plenty of sex ed shoved down their throat and it hasn't helped one bit.  Christianity teaches modesty, integrity, purity, holiness.  Words the kids shun and mock these days.

You know absolutely nothing about Sex ed if you think it is even remotely adequate. Most programs barely even get basic anatomy right. What has been shoved down our throats is abstinence-only rubbish, which yes, has NOT worked.

    8. MissMelissaK profile image81
MissMelissaKposted 11 years agoin reply to this

IT is not RUBBISH.  Abstaining from sex DOES work if you act RESPONSIBLY.  If one chooses to touch a hot stove and NOT CARE about the consequences then you'll reap what you sow.  How can you blame Christianity for irresponsibility?

    9. junkseller profile image81
junksellerposted 11 years agoin reply to this

Not abstaining from sex also works just fine if you ACT RESPONSIBLY. I don't blame Christianity for irresponsibility. I blame it for teaching that sex is a hot stove. It isn't. It is a deliciously warm bauble of pleasure.

You may view sex that way but for the millions who have had their life permanently altered, changed or shortened, it may not be seen as a deliciously warm bauble of pleasure.  It's more like Russian Roulette.

Sex is what it is. What matters is what you do with it. We really aren't saying different things. I advocate using it responsibly the same as you. I just don't find marriage to be an important element of responsibility (or a guaranteed one).

I think the crux of the problem is ego.

Ego is selfishness. Ego is the original separation from God (in the Garden).

Ego is "my way or the highway." Ego is both perpetrator and victim. Ego is both mass murderer and suicide perpetrator. And ego is the little old lady who goes to church every Sunday, but despises the prostitute who sits in the back.

Humility is the antidote. Love is the cure. Anonymous generosity is the salve on our wounded soul.

Well said.  Jesus teaches us to be humble.  Not a loathing humble but a healthy humble.  We should love one another and be content with what we have.  Humility is the absolute answer.

America has been seduced by the spirit of APATHY and instead of destroying it and casting it out as scripture requires, it has been accepted because those professing to be God's leaders (the hirelings)  have not done their jobs, but have also accepted it. (because they serve another god)   Those with discernment have seen it and tried to work against it.   But instead of exercising their God given discernment people have accepted the lies that that the church hirelings have brought them.    Those that have tried to bring the truth have been castigated and have been so bombarded by the hirelings and their followers that their voices were drowned out.    Because they have not a love for the truth, those (the great majority) that believed the lies rather than search out the truth for themselves have  been overtaken by the strong delusion sent by God and now they must believe the lie and suffer the consequences.    The only answer is that there be a national cleansing and season of repentance, cleaning out all the things in the nation that are against God and His ways.   We have an election soon that will be the last chance to save our nation.
First all who profess to be Christians must turn to God and ask  and then do what He says is their part in the restoration.   Then they must learn and understand what it means to be a Christian and stop talking about it and BE one.
During this time of retraining ALL Christians need to stop supporting ALL these churches of men and allow them to die for lack of funds .  REMEMBER the church of Jesus Christ is not  found in a building  or a denomination or any other invention of mere men.    When Jesus died the veil of the temple was rent by God himself and he was let out of the box, His home is now in the people that belong to Him. the body of Christ, the true church of Jesus Christ and we do not have to go to Him, he comes to us if welcomed.
These false teachers (hirelings)  that have not done their jobs and are leading people astray must be left high and dry without any Christian followers  so that all can see their folly.
Scripture tells us that the Head of MAN is Christ and He is who True Christians follow and His is the ONLY kingdom we are to build, not the kingdoms of men as most are building to day.   We are to build togetherness and adherance to the word of God and separation from the world and not separation from our truebrethren in the Lord as has been done for the last 100 years.
    GOD HELP US
