Do you think the Mac Air is missing enough not to be an effective machine?
It lacks a CD drive and the ability to hook up to an RJ-45 ethernet cable... which means unless you have access to WIFi you can't connect to the internet, and without the internet you cannot download software that is currently on CD's that you can't use.... and so on.
Not at all.
The MacBook Air has USB ports. You can get an external USB Disc Drive (there's actually an option to include one when you purchase from Apple's website), and you can also a get a USB to Ethernet adapter to connect to the internet with an RJ-45. Just make sure the USB to Ethernet adapter you choose has the drivers for Macs!
