Why does it take my computer 3 minutes to turn on?

I bought a new computer through an online vendor. After plugging it in and pressing the power button, it took about 3 minutes to turn on. This happens every time I turn my computer on after switching on the power button in the back, near the power cord. The odd thing is, as long as the power button in the back is in the on position, and I shut my computer down and turn it on, it turns on fine. It is only after I turn the power button in the back off and then back on, and then press the power button in the front of the computer, that it takes so long to turn on.

If you completely unplug the computer from power source and then plug it back then the next time the computer turns on the bio will check the system to make sure everything is ok. Otherwise maybe you have too many start up programs running at the same time when the computer turns on. I have a SSD drive and my computer turns on in a second or two which is not the case for my other computer that takes 60 seconds to turn on on a hard drive. Install a solid state drive if you want to, it will run faster.

Do a disk clean and defragmenter at leat once a month.  This is found under your accessories, system tools on your program menu.  It helps.

Sounds like it may be installing a bunch of pre-installed nag-ware when you start from a cold boot. Could be a caching issue.

There really is no reason to be turning off the PSU, just shutting down the computer in software is fine.

Can't help you anymore without details about type f PC, what OS etc. you are running.

      OS: Windows 7 64-bit
      Processor: AMD Athlon II X2 270 / 3.40 GHz
      Ram: 2 GB

It's a non-name brand built by the vendor. But I had this problem even before installing my OS.

Try running CCleaner and see if you have got some virus or Trojan. And I would definitely get more RAM.

it might be hardware problem. Sometimes, there are issues in the transistors which make the delay for computer to bootup. You can contact the vendor, if it's in warranty and get the issue solved right away.

I agree with teaches, do a disk clean and defrag. Anytime my computer seems to be getting slow I do this and it's back to normal.
