Moore's Law created 60 years ago showed that computing power was doubling in density every 18 months. They are getting faster because of demand for more computing power, whether more realistic games or 3D modeling or immersive virtual reality educational simulations.
They will continue to get faster until circuits are so narrow that variations in electron flow constitute interference - or we get DNA computers working.
And both of those are a decade away.
