Installing a new hard drive in a Mac book

I installed a new hard drive in a mac book.  When I try to install the software, it doesn't pick up the HD as a destination. I put it in and out a few times and nothing. The funny part is that when I go to utilities tab, system profiler, I click on serial ATA and it gives me all the information of the new HD.  Any thoughts and how I can pick the destination?

Hello, cpittaluga! I imagine that you've probably found an answer by now, but just in case you haven't...

The first thing I would recommend trying is using the utilities to repartition the new hard drive. I imagine you've already tried this though.

The second thing I would try would be to once again use the utilities to repair permissions.

I hope this helps! Although I hope even more that you've already found the answer and you're not still waiting!!! Feel free to send me a pm if you have any tech problems in the future... I'm always happy to try and help : D.
