Will the Internet become one big advert?

If you notice with the TV (UK)  we used to have BBC1, BB2, ITV, C4 & C5 in the old terrestial days. Along comes satellite TV and we now have ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 etc etc etc.
These channels are like "window", "doorway", "mirror" or "clone" websites and exist for the sole purpose of selling advertisements.

If it possible that such spamming has become the norm for TV, will we see the Internet go the same way? Will we get a Google 1, Google 2 etc, each being used for adverts, with the best used for selling football and Coca-Cola? the worst selling dodgey phone call numbers?

laugh if you will but what is the difference of repeating TV programmes and repating website content? If one is unacceptable, should not the other also be?

If the internet had arisen in the thirties in the UK, it would have had a remit to 'entertain, inform and educate'. Ads would have been banned and users would have been obliged to pay a licence fee to access the service.

As it is presently constituted, the internet is a cesspool of nonsense with floaters of a genuinely repugnant nature.

It is also the place where I make a nice little income by using my lowest possible settings of what is decent, honest and true.
