I have to flip through a half-dozen of them before I can find one I can read. And this concludes today's rant.
agreed!Facebook is a pia whenever i want to upload anyhting
Facebook isn't the only one. Is this supposed to be a vision test?
I just did one on eBay because I couldn't remember/find my password. That one I could actually read the first time.
The funny thing is, captchas aren't even necessary anymore. I've completely eliminated them from my employer's website using a free open-source jQuery plugin that still blocks virtually all 'bots. No "human tests" required.
Your post just made me post the link to this forum thread on one of my blogs.
Here's what I used: http://archive.plugins.jquery.com/proje … less-forms
It basically works by converting divs into form elements using Javascript after the page is loaded. People see a form that looks and behaves identically to any other, except for the lack of annoying captcha. 'bots see nothing. There are other captcha-less solutions as well.
Hmm, I've toyed around with the idea of writing a hub about my captcha removal experience. Maybe I'll go ahead and do it.
Do it. I'll post a link to it in this thread.
He wrote the article. It tells everything you need to know as to eliminating captchas. Here it is: http://ericnewland.hubpages.com/hub/captcha-and-rescue
Captchas everywhere are awful. I often have to make twenty or more attempts before I get one right. They usually reduce me to tears. The spoken alternative is even worse. I have never managed to understand what is being said when I've tried to use it in place of having to work out what the distorted letters might be.
Yep, and I have now tweeted the link to this thread.
Well! Check this out!

Yea seriously is it me or are captchas in general getting worse. Lately I've been cycling between a half dozen of them to get one that's SLIGHTLY readable...

I was randomly looking for an article I'd written to link a friend and it was on Excerptz. When I arrived on the site I got this message:Excerptz closed on 13th August 2012. Authors have 60 days to remove their content from excerptz.com/wp-admin should they wish to reclaim it. Thanks!.Lovely way to...

OK, I may be on a RANT, but, you people who want to use HP as some kind of social game playing site, please grow up and go over to your Facebook account. Those people are used to game players. Me? You're wasting space in my Feed with your game playing requests.DON
