2Gether Guesthouse In Karon Beach, Phuket, Thailand
The 2Gether Guesthouse opened in Karon Beach, Phuket in 2005, as well as the 2Gether Restaurant And Bar. When the current ownership took over, they spent a lot of time and money renovating the building and fixing the place up. You would never know that this used to be J.T. House (a well known budget guesthouse that was operating in the location prior to the opening of 2Gether). The rooms in the guesthouse would be similar to the rooms in a 4 star hotel, the only significant difference is the price. The convenient location near Karon Beach and the affordable prices make the 2Gether Guesthouse very popular with families travelling to Thailand and Phuket.

The 2Gether Guesthouse is located on Patak Road, just 1 km south from the Hilton Hotel, near the Intersection of Patak Road and Bangla Karon. This is also the location of Karon Plaza (just behind 2gether Guesthouse). The area is convenient for tourists as it is just a 2 minute walk from Karon Beach, as well as many shops and vendors located in the area. Tourist visiting Phuket with their families often choose to stay in the Kata - Karon area in order to avoid the bars and prostitutes that are everywhere in Patong Beach. There are plenty of bars and nightlife in Karon and Kata, however it is a lot more suitable for couples and families. Kata and Karon Beaches are a popular destination for Scandinavian tourists, you will see Swedish flags all over town.
Guests that stay in the Guesthouse will also enjoy eating at the 2Gether Restaurant And Bar, especially the Scandinavian guests. The restaurant has a variety of Swedish favourites like "Kotbullar" and "Pytt I Panna". They also have a reputation for having the best steaks in town, served in the Swedish style on a wooden plank. The restaurant also serves very authentic Thai food for those people who love to eat the local dishes. Their pizza is perhaps the best on the Island of Phuket, and it is unique, unlike any other pizza that I have eaten in Thailand. I have never been to Sweden, but my Swedish friends all tell me that the pizza at 2Gether is very authentic Swedish style pizza.
Each room comes with a DVD player, this is very convenient as the latest Hollywood movies are for sale from the local vendors for as little as 60THB (2USD). The rooms are very clean and furnished with beautiful modern furniture as you can see in the photos. All rooms have air conditioning, and there is free wireless Internet access for guests of the hotel or the restaurant. Guests of the 2Gether Guesthouse will also have access to a swimming pool. The prices start at 500THB in the low season, and 1000THB in the high season. There is no better value than the accommodations at 2Gether Guesthouse, you get so much for such a reasonable price.
I have always noticed that the most successful businesses almost always have happy staff. 2Gether Guesthouse is no exception, the entire staff and ownership live and work together as more of a family than as co-workers and employer. Christer's passion about his business is what has lead to his success, and his loyal staff certainly share his passion when it comes to providing great food and friendly service. This is obvious when you experience the pleasant atmosphere while dining at the restaurant or staying in the guesthouse. Christer has told me that it is very important to him that his guests leave his establishment with a good feeling in their heart, and I have witnessed this myself. He is always asking guests if there is anything they would like to see improved, and he encourages feedback from customers.
Christer Larsson has been involved in the restaurant and hotel industry since he was very young, he started as a sue chef until he was given the job of chef at the "Bakfickan at Hotel Diplomat Åregården". He opened his first restaurant (Kök 1) at Åre Ski Resort in Sweden in 1997, and after selling his first restaurant in 2001, he opened a new restaurant (Kök 1) in Stockholm, Sweden in 2002. After the birth of his daughter in July 2007, he was faced with a decision, he sold his restaurant so that he was able to spend all his time with his family.
Christer does not believe in paying large advertising companies for endorsements, he strongly believes in word of mouth advertising. He tries to do everything he can to make sure his guests enjoy his food and appreciate his hospitality. He believes that money can not buy the kind of endorsements he gets from satisfied customers that love his food.
While I was interviewing Christer, he told me an interesting story about his trip home to Sweden last low season. He had intended to go on a holiday skiing at the ski resort where he used to live and work. Unfortunately when he left Bangkok, the plane was diverted to Chiang Mai because of the Volcanic ash cloud, and he was left stranded in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai for over a week. He arrived in Chiang Mai with his skis and all his gear, unfortunately the mountains in the city of Chiang Mai do not have any snow. After a week of staying alone in Chiang Mai, his wife and child made the trip from Phuket to visit. Eventually he was able to fly out to Sweden a few weeks later.
