Blizzard Beach: One of Walt Disney World's Best Water Parks in Florida...

Updated on March 27, 2011

Walt Disney World's Blizzard Beach in Orlando FL...

Walt Disney World in Orlando FL is an incredible place with many amazing theme parks that you need to see, and they also have two of the best water parks in Florida! Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach are two incredible water parks, and in this article I’m going to talk about Blizzard Beach… This park is a lot of fun on a hot summer’s day, with all the great slides and activities you would expect from one of the best water parks in the United States…

For pure adrenalin slides and rides, many people prefer Blizzard Beach over Typhoon Lagoon, and probably the number one slide is called Summit Plummet! This is the tallest and steepest water slide possibly in the nation, and you will race down at more than 55 mph! It’s not for the less than brave at heart, but it can also have a long wait to get to the top! The ride down is quick, and most people get right back in line for another ride down…

A Freak Snowstorm at Blizzard Beach...

The whole premise or theme of the water park is that there was a freak snowstorm in Florida and a snow ski resort was quickly put up, but before it was completed the snow started melting away and it was changed into a water park instead!  There is lots to see at this park, with plenty of Disney created scenery to ponder around every corner…  You’ll be amazed!

Even though there are tons of great slides and rides, there really isn’t as much shade at Blizzard Beach as there is at Typhoon Lagoon, so make sure that you bring plenty of sun screen if coming here!  The water will wash if off pretty frequently, so you’ll want to reapply it fairly often to avoid sunburn.  The Florida sun can be brutal in the summer, and you may not even know that you are starting to burn until it’s too late…

Of course, Blizzard Beach has a lazy river attraction, and it’s called Cross Country Creek…  It’s a great place to slow down a little, and enjoy a nice relaxing drift with the current in an inner tube.  The name “lazy river” is well earned!  It’s always one of my favorite attractions when I come to Blizzard Beach for the day…

Tikes Peak For the Kids at Blizzard Beach

There are also many places to sit or lie out in the sun for those periods of complete inactivity, but just make sure not to fall asleep in the sun!  You will probably regret it later…  Blizzard Beach has plenty of fun and safe activities for the kids, so make sure to bring them along!  Check out Tikes Peak for the kiddies, it will probably be their favorite place to spend the day!

Some of the many other great slides in the park are Toboggan Racers, Teamboat Springs, Snow Stormers, Slush Gusher, and Runoff Rapids.  If you are looking to relax in a nice pool, try the Melt Away Bay to spend some quiet time with the family floating away…  It’s amazing what a little peace and quiet can do!

Walt Disney World has so much to see and do that you could stay at the resort for a whole week and still not be able to put a serious dent in it all!  If you have a choice, I recommend staying at one of the Disney resorts on the property, because they really offer a lot of value and convenience when you stay there.  They really spend a lot of time trying to make your feel right at home!  You can stay at higher priced resorts like the Polynesian Resort Hotel, or try and less expensive one such as the All Stars Resort…  There are many hotels on the property to pick from, and I think you’ll really like them!  Plan your next vacation to Walt Disney World and Blizzard Beach soon; have fun!
