Day Out At Orchard Road, Singapore
Fun for the Entire Family at Playnation
More Than Just Shopping at Orchard Road
Visitors to Singapore always head to Orchard Road for the shopping. However, there are lots more fun activities to be done here. For the youths who are not interested in shopping, they can head to Playnation which is located at Scape. Here, they can rent games for gaming consoles such as Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii, or play board and card games.
Great Selection of Tea at Rose Veranda
Variety of Food Options at Orchard Road
To start off your day, you can have brunch at Orchard Road. Some of the more popular choices are Wild Honey at Scotts Square and PS Cafe (located at both Palais Renaissance and Paragon). An Asian option would be to have dim sum at the various Chinese restaurants.
For lunch or dinner, you can proceed to have a variety of cuisines. There is ramen at Ippudo (at Mandarin Gallery), sashimi at Sun With Moon (at Wheelock Place), Korean (various restaurants at Orchard Central), and the quintesential fast food options.
Besides that, you can enjoy high tea or buffet at the hotels along or close to Orchard Road. I have not been to all but I can definitely recommend the high tea buffet at Rose Veranda, Shangri La Hotel. The service is good and if you love TWG's selection of teas, you can enjoy them here. You could easily spend 3 hours here enjoying the food and good company.
Chill Out at KPO!
Chilling Out at Orchard Road
On the other hand, those who are of legal age can head to the many pubs around Orchard Road. A unique place to chill out would be KPO. This bar shares the same building as the Killiney Post Office, hence the name, KPO. There are also more choices near Emerald Hill.
Window shopping
Window Shopping and People Watching
If you are new to Singapore, you may be overwhelmed by the crowds at Orchard Road, especially during the weekends. Instead of joining the crowds, take your pick from the various cafes and sit back and relax. When you are done relaxing, you can choose to shop or window shop ;)
Sit Back and Relax at the Cafes Along Orchard Road
Enjoying Art in Orchard
Orchard Road is well-known for its annual Christmas decoration along the entire street. However, during the non-Christmas period, you can also enjoy art at ION Orchard Level 4 which has an admission-free art gallery. At times, you will also find other art exhibitions or interesting decorations up such as during the Chinese New Year festival and National Day. Just keep your eyes open wide!
