The Raleigh-Cary area has grown and improved a great deal since the early 200s and by 2007, it had reached the Number One spot on the Forbes list. The metro area remains in the "top cities" lists of several economic and financial magazines.
Number One: Raleigh-Cary, North Carolina
- Income Growth Rank: 12th highest in the USA.
- Cost Of Living Rank: 45 out of the top 50 metro areas. This mean a lower cost of living among the top 50 metropolitan areas.
- Job Growth Rank: 10th out of 50 or the top 20% of metro areas. This is fast job growth.
North Carolina is experiencing a stable housing market in the 2010s, while some other states are suffering a downturn in the housing market. Raleigh should remain on top economically, because of it's stable housing market, high job growth rate and lower cost of living.
The three major universities in the area, Duke, the University of North Carolina, and North Carolina State University, attract large numbers of well-educated employees, well-trained technicians, and qualified technology contractors to the Research Triangle region of NC. This is expected to further increase the economic growth of the Raleigh-Cary Metro Area.
