South Beach FL: Miami Florida's Hippest Location, South Beach...

Updated on March 26, 2011

South Beach FL, Hip and Happening!

There are many great beaches and resort towns in the great state of Florida, but probably the beach with the most culture and hip factor is South Beach FL, in Miami… This beach has what it takes to attract all kinds of people from around the world, including the rich and famous. Celebrities, successful businessmen, Hollywood movie directors, and others flock to this city to enjoy the incredible beaches, shopping, and cultural attractions that make Miami what it is…

Julia Roberts has been known to frequent some of the many shops located along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue, and Lincoln Road, in addition to many other stars. The hotels located here are very posh and exclusive, and cater to high end clientele, but you can also find other great hotels that are very nice and will fit into your budget. Probably the most famous Miami hotel is the Fontainebleau Hotel, which has been featured in several Hollywood movies. This hotel has been around for many years, and is a standard in Miami and very close to South Beach FL.

Nightclub Scene in South Beach FL...

The nightclub scene is extremely hip, and you may have glimpsed a little of what it has to offer from any number of television shows or movies filmed in South Beach FL, including Miami Vice, CSI Miami, and Burn Notice. The nightclubs tend to fill up quickly in the South Beach FL district, and there are usually lines forming to get inside on the weekends. If you have the right look or are dressed right, you will get preference of course… Trendy clubs can’t be seen letting in the riff raff of society, now can they!

The beaches are incredible as you can imagine, being that far south and only 60 miles or so from Bimini, in the Bahamas. Tropical palm trees everywhere, wide sidewalks for walking, biking, or skating, and it definitely has a Malibu Beach in California atmosphere. As you walk down the beach or sidewalk, you are half expecting to run into a movie star that you recognize, and the air of expectation is pretty high… The waters are a turquoise green mixed with blue farther out, and it’s very clear so that swimming and wading is very enjoyable… Another nice thing about the South Beach FL area is its proximity to the Florida Keys and Key West.

South Beach FL...

The last time I was down in South Beach FL was actually on the heels of a bad tropical storm that just passed through, and the weather was the worst I’ve ever seen down there… The wind and the waves were incredible, but of course I was out on the beach seeing how much trouble I could get into! So the moral of that story is the weather does have its hurricanes and tropical storms from time to time, especially in August and September, so if you are planning on visiting during that period of time you may just experience a little of what the word “tropical” really means! However, I love it in South Beach FL and wouldn’t trade a visit there for anything!

The restaurants are fantastic, and whether you are looking for something with very fine dining or just a slice of pizza at the corner deli, there is something there for everyone… Miami and South Beach have that Latin flavor, with lots of Spanish speaking immigrants, both legal and illegal, spreading their cultures and traditions with the opening of Cuban and South American restaurants and bars. They say that you can pretty much find anything you are looking for in New York City, and I believe that is also true of the South Beach FL area! Walking around the area is amazing, and the sights and sounds and smells will make you want to poke your head into just about every shop and restaurant.

So come down to the Miami / South Beach FL area for a visit, but plan your stay right! Make sure you are in the South Beach area and just relax… Park your car for your entire stay and walk around, you’ll be surprised at what you can discover! And don’t forget to get to the beach for at least a little swim; it’s great for washing away your worries!
