Morawa

If you are looking for a place to stay a night or two after leaving Perth or one last stop before you arrive there then make sure you visit the friendly town of Morawa 4 hours north of Perth & from Geraldton, Morawa is east south east approximately 180km.

From the coastal town of Dongara, we are 114 kms east and the Shire is bordered by the Shire of Mullewa to the North, Perenjori to the South, Mingenew and Three Springs to the West and Yalgoo to the East.
Morawa is a sheep and wheat farming town right in the heart of wildflower country in the Western Australian Wheat belt.

From August to October, the region puts on a stunning display of colourful wildflowers including orchids, grevillea, native foxgloves, acacias, carpets of everlastings and wreath flowers

Its a lovely relaxing place to be where you will find the locals only to happy to help you out .

.

we have an well stocked IGA - the Road house with the best fish & chips and a seat outside to eat or the park  in town.

Check out the rock formations at Bilya Rock, Koolanook Springs and War Rock.

Discover some interesting native plants and animals at the Koolanooka Mine Site.

Beyond the town of Morawa you can enjoy carpets of wildflowers in season,There are mines such as the Koolanooka mine to visit , and there is plenty to see within the Morawa town site. Our historic windmill collection is the only large, public display in the whole of Australia and the historic buildings scattered throughout town tell their own tales of the past . There are public art displays held and a bakery serving fresh delicious home made cooking ., not to mention a more than welcoming local community.

If you have seen the movie about the rabbit proof fence then you will enjoy seeing one on your way out to Rothsby mine site.

Morawa Pool

Morawa Pool is what has kept me sane here all this time along with cooking on the campfire . We have been out a few times while here . A guy from the other side of town invited us over for a bbq months ago which was nice & apart from a few week evenings and supporting the locals at a few events like the Morawa Speedway & Morawa Football etc we have been on our own .

I sometimes like to go to the pool so I can say hello to someone as much as have a swim so it will be nice to be on the road and have someone to have lunch or even a coffee with during the day .

It is a beautiful pool with diving board , BBQ area which we enjoyed using tonight ,as well as a childrens paddling pool !

Sandy & Jeff are doing a great job keeping the water looking clean at all times, We will miss them both when we leave Morawa soon.

hi freecampingaussie

I use to live in Meekathurra a few years back, working at St. Barbara mines. I remember the beautiful outback scenery surrounding Morawa and of course up to Meeka. And from memory, I spent a weekend in that area in my days off, went to the speedway as a couple of mates were racing at the time.

Anyway, just dropped by to say Gday.

Very good hub.
