What Is The Difference Between English And American Life
(generally) humour, language, lifestyle, people's attitudes, etcetera.
I'm in the UK, but have travelled quite extensively in the States. I've got to say, I think things are coming together much, much more nowadays, what with kids doing the halloween thing and the UK being much less class conscious than it used to be. Britain's getting much more like America, and I personally think that's a GOOD THING. I really like America. It's so unstuffy, no class system that I recognised, and it's full of really friendly people. I know we've got no reason to do it, but I'd love it if the UK adopted the Thanksgiving thing. We were staying on a campsite on Thanksgiving once, and the owner came back from his family thanksgiving celebrations with some of his family, lots of Turkey and huge pumpkin pies. We had a great feast. Now that's really friendly! But this question is about the difference between English and American life. I'd say the big difference is guns, and their availability. I know that there's a big gun lobby in the States, and that it would be really hard to get rid of them now, but I'm glad we don't have as many guns over here in the UK.
Americans speak proper English. Not like that silly stuff those Brits say.
