If a plane crash is certain, are the passengers informed?
I guess you'd have to find a crash survivor to answer. I don't know if there are any operational guidelines for such an announcement, or if airlines prepare for announcing something they wish would not happen.
If in such a situation, I would suppose that all crew members would be totally focused on preventing a crash instead of making announcements.
If you hear the Lord's Prayer (or unprecedented cursing) coming over the intercom, I would count it as being informed.
Why do you ask?
"Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking... I know there's "no smoking" on flights anymore on but y'know what? Light'em up, cuz we're going down. We've got a carton of Camel Unfiltereds up here in the cockpit if anyone needs one. See ya on the ground."
I would imagine phrases like "Brace for impact" would let them know.
I haven't seen Sully yet. Is it worth the ticket?
Yes. Sully is great. I highly recommend it. I can't remember what the flight attendants said over and over again. But, it was effective.
