How would you make your decision on living in CA or TX?
I am already living in California. Why should I have to make that decision?
I made that exact decision. Or it was made for me...
I was raised in California, and lived there through college. I left to go to graduate school, and to pursue my career. I wandered for about a decade, as I worked my way up.
I met someone from Texas, and fell in love. We settled in Texas. When the relationship ended, there was a point where I could have gone wherever I wanted, but by that point, moving back to California would have put a serious crimp in my choices. Houses were significantly less expensive here in Texas, and there's no state tax here. I could buy a three bedroom, two bath home in a nice, older neighborhood, or I could move back to California, and rent a studio apartment in a bad neighborhood for the same money. I stayed put.
I love California. I miss the ocean. I miss being around people who are like-minded. But in Texas, I can own a home, and work for myself. In California, not so much.
