Dayzeebee interviews Dottie1
Last week's profiled Hubber, Dayzeebee, was this week's Barbara Walters to Dottie1.You have chosen a very powerful and wonderful motto which says “I can learn.” Tell us more about it.
"I can learn” is a motto I adopted from my study through the Life of
Learning Foundation that states ‘I can learn’ are the 3 most powerful
words you could ever express to yourself. They have the power to lift
you above the world of thought to a gentle world that helps break down
old patterns of habit and choices that no longer serve one well. Those
words ‘I can learn’ have given me the opportunity to cease struggling
to live my life and just allow it be lived for me.
As a super mom to two wonderful children, what are the things that you treasure most in raising your kids?
The things I have treasured the most in raising my kids are the
memories of their youthful innocence in finding their place in the
world. The questions they asked and the answers they gave were
priceless. Although both my kids are beyond adolescence now, as a
family we still share and laugh at the stories which give us great
pleasure and keep us bonded. A quick story that comes to mind is the
day I pulled up in front of an enormous pink house where my daughter
was invited for an afternoon preschool play group. Usually my daughter
would be quick to run ahead anticipating all the excitement with her
friends but this day she would not budge out of our car. After some
encouragement from mom, all my daughter could do is stare back at me
with quizzical eyes and moments later, from out of her mouth came…this
is NOT Gina’s house mom, this is Cinderella’s.
I’m also curious as to how you were as a child. Were you as bubbly then as you are now?
I was the second daughter born of four girls. Four girls living
under one roof can be harsh and often led to much hair pulling, so to
speak, and for me being the runt (the shortest) of the group, I got my
hair pulled a lot. I learned early on that I better get tough or I’d
get smooshed. But instead I chose to hide and often wandered off
through the neighborhood, scouting out kids to play all kinds of games
with. It was safe in those days for a child to wander off all day with
the neighbors as long as you made your way home before the streetlights
came on, or else! So I guess you could say as a child, I was a happy
little wanderer!
I know that you love dogs to the extent that you enjoy doggie
sitting. Is this therapy, a hobby or possibly an alternative career?
Haha, I am laughing at this question of whether doggie sitting could
possibly be an alternative career? I haven't given any thought to
that, although I do know it offers excellent pay. I am laughing
because apparently my neighbor has big plans for my future. I hear her
jokingly tell her six 'golden doodle' doggie kids that soon they will
look for a new house with a bigger back yard, not far from Auntie
Dottie so she can still come over and play ball and take care of you.
I must admit though, taking care of these beautiful and gentle dogs is
good therapy where I love to go, let my hair down, and become a total
fool.
You’ve been with HubPages for two years now. Tell us the most significant experience you’ve had with this community.
I have had a good amount of memorable experiences with the HubPage community. I wrote a hub "50 reasons why I love HubPages" where you can read all about them, if you'd like.
I love the varied topics you’ve written. Which hubs mean a lot to you?
Quite a few of my hubs were written using the topic of the week,
chosen by a member of the Hubmob team. One of my hubmob hubs is "How to be a good doggie sitter" which I love and was fun to write. Another hubmob hub is "Inexpensive and Unusual Gifts for Men"
a prize winning and money making hub but I would have to say the hub
that brought me the most meaning was the one I wrote as a "tribute to my friend".
Who are your favorite hubbers and why?
My favorite hubbers are a few of my first fans who welcomed me
warmly to HubPages and surrounded me with love in a time of great
discomfort upon losing a friend. And they are, Ripplemaker, Shirley Anderson, Compu-smart and you too, Dayzeebee! I will always be grateful for that!
If you had ten million dollars, what will you do with it?
What would I do with ten million dollars, you ask. Well, after I
pick myself up off the ground and get my heart restarted, I would first
pay off all my debt so the banks don't own my life anymore. It has
always been a dream of mine to anonymously give money away to those in
need and you will never know, you may be next!
Tell us something that we would never guess about you –surprise us!
So you want to know something about me that you would never guess,
hmmm lets see! I did play lots of sandlot baseball when I was younger.
I would usually be picked first on a team because I had the ability to
hit lots of homeruns, yes me, the little runt of the group. I think I
missed my call in life. I should have been the first female
professional baseball player, lol.
What gives you deep joy?
For me the things that bring me deep joy are the simple pleasures in
life. A fun day at the ocean, walking in nature, reading an inspiring
book, happy music, beautiful pictures, helping others, discovering the
beauty in everything and a good hearty laugh are just a few of my
favorite things that bring me joy.
