    I think one should immidiately report any neighbors who might not be taking good care of their animals. This can bring problems with your neighbors but it doesn't matter. Some people are not meant to own pets.
    I once received a visit from a cop who had received a call that they had seen a dog tied to a fence at my address. I was giving my dog a bath and had to tie her loosely to the fence until she dried so that she wouldn't run off and get dirty. The cop saw that I was saying the truth and that my front door and windows were open for me to keep my eye on her. That's just how it is. You see neglect and even if you are not sure, you report it. Just in case.

    Informing the appropriate authorities to stop the cruelty against animals and creating awareness among masses are some of the ways of curbing it. You can use internet to make people aware about any incident where you think cruelty against poor animals has been happened.

    i dont think there is a way to totally stop it,there are always animals being found abandoned and will always be people out there who are cruel and would dunmp them for no reason.
    but i would support the RSPCA going to remote areas and looking around for any animals that might have been dumped

    By giving animals the right to live in comfort & peace without violence or torment, laws to protect them that are actually stuck to & punishment is as great/or greater than the crime then maybe it wouldnt be as bad statistically wise, but there are a wide majority who have this unfounded belief that animals are of less importance, should be used as we wish regardless of suffering. & as all the others have said/commented.. dont ignore abuse on animals, report it, stop it, do whatever necessary..they are our gifts not there to be abused, experimented on & bred for human consumption. Big hugz to all of the animal lovers worldwide {{0}}

    One can intervene when witnessing animal abuse.  Write letters to the editor of newspapers, speak before classrooms to impressionable young people, treat animals well and encourage others to do the same, site local, state laws which pertain to animal abuse, neglect, abandonment,...enforce these by using a citizens' arrest if necessary, write/call your legislator and representatives on local, state and Federal levels, sign petitions, campaign for those politicians who are sensitive to animal issues, stop using products which test on animals, speak out, have strength to stand up for our animal friends, support laws against animal abuse, work towards strengthening these laws, the list is endless.  Wherever you see a need..,.fill it when it comes to helping end animal abuse.

    VERY IMPORTANT:  READ THIS!!  MAKE CONGRESS ENFORCE AND (IF NEEDED) CREATE LAWS WHICH FORCE WEB SITES LIKE YOUTUBE AND CRAIGSLIST AND OTHERS TO MONITOR THE UPLOADS, FORCE THEM TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR DISPLAYING/ALLOWING VIDEOS SUCH AS "CRUSH VIDEOS," AND OTHERS WHICH SHOW ANIMAL ABUSE.  THEY MUST BE MADE TO BE RESPONSIBLE / ACCOUNTABLE AND PUNISHED! FOR BEING THE VEHICLE WHICH LETS PERPETRATORS POST THEIR PICTURES/IMAGES/VIDEOS SHOWING ANIMAL ABUSE.  THEY MUST NOT ALLOW THESE TO BE PLACED ONLINE...ON THE INTERNET..NOWHERE!!!  IF WE ALL INSIST ON THIS, THOSE HORRIFIC VIDEOS WILL BE STOPPED AND THE SICK PEOPLE WHO PRODUCE THEM WILL HAVE NO PLACE TO DISPLAY THEM.

    I believe that education is the key to preventing animal abuse.  Too many people bring pets into their lives without understanding the commitment it takes to care for that pet or the know how on how to meet their needs.
